Durham-Duplex would like to wish all our customers a very Happy Christmas and a successful 2018.
2017 has been good and as we all head off for the Christmas holidays the team here at Durham-Duplex may be resting in body but mentally they are gearing up for what looks like a busy 2018. So, if we miss an email or call over the Christmas and New Year period please do forgive us – everything returns to normal on 2nd January 2018.
The picture is from our archives and dates back to when Durham-Duplex was a shaving company and beards were not in fashion. We still sell almost as many “Durham” slotted blades now but mainly for industrial applications and also in our “duplex” dog dresser which might be the perfect Christmas present for the man or woman who has everything (it works particularly well on horse hair as well).
Durham Duplex enjoyed the Gulfood manufacturing expo as part of the UK pavilion and judging by the enquiries did a good job of promoting UK Manufacturing as well our range of machine knives across the region. International Sales Director Carl Foster said ” there was an excellent foot fall and a good mix of potential with very few time wasters so our local agent is very happy with plenty to follow up. The potential from my week is already tangible from across the region with lots of actual enquiries for specific things to solve specific problems.”
Durham -Duplex supported US Manufacturer at the Med Tech Ireland show 4-5 October 2017 in Galway. International Sales Director Carl Foster said” this was a great opportunity to see the Irish customers that we look after for AccuTEC Blades, particularly those taking the clean room products. Both we and AccuTEc came away from the vent with a much better grip on the Celtic Tiger and what is happening there in relation to Med Tech, plus we sold a fair few blades!” The photo shows Carl and AccuTEC VP Sales Gerry Lano.
Durham- Duplex had a successful time at the Health and Safety show at Manchester on 4 and 5th October 2017. Area Sales Manager Alex Smith enjoyed the event and said “I am always impressed by the knowledge levels of the H&S professional at this show and their willingness to work with us to deliver the safe cutting requirements for their staff. It was a busy 2 days and will lead to many follow up meetings over the rest of 2017.” If you need support with your cutting requirements the please call Alex on 0114 243 2313 or email [email protected]
Durham-Duplex had a great show at INTERPLAS and the PPMA Show at the NEC over 26th – 28th September. UK Sales Director Paul Bottomley said “This is an important show for us with our wide range of products so being able to straddle both shows was a great return for us. We saw many, many customers from both shows and also had a lot of enquiries from people unaware of what we have to offer.” If you missed the show and would like more information call 01142432313 or email [email protected]
As Durham-Duplex’s part of the Mistress Cutler’s challenge a golf day was organised by Alex Smith, Gabrielle Minacipilli and Richard Kirtley at the Birley Wood golf course. Below are a few images including the team with Denise Crisell from Cavendish Cancer Care one of the Mistresses chosen charities. Mark Herod won the splendid (!?!) trophy although we think Peter was probably the better golfer on the day, any how fun was had – well done the young ones for organising and raising about £200 for the Mistress’ challenge.
Durham-Duplex takes H&S seriously and so took a full day to refresh the whole workforce on general H&S matters, like PPE and Duty of care, plus ensured everyone was up to date on what to do in case of fire and basic life saving first aid including the use of the Company Defibrillators. It was also an opportunity to get a photo of the Company with the trainers after a very useful and productive day.
As it was an all day event the Directors also ensured everyone was well fed to maintain attention. It should be noted that not only were Fish and Chips provided but the “Healthy” side of the event was reinforced by oodles of fruit being available as well.
Finally, a secret of our success can now be shared. Durham-Duplex is not only a Family orientated Company that has mastered the manufacture of industrial blades and machine knives but it is a Company that has also developed cloning. The following photograph of UK sales Team’s Rob Nell and his brood proves that not only Gru from “Despicable Me” has Minions!
After 33 years in Durham-Duplex Jayne Murphy has retired to her Allotment. A lot has happened whilst she has been with the Company. She was the first person to use a PC back in the day and saw the Accounts office move at least 4 times around the building.
The photos show Jayne with the Accounts and Admin team on her last day. We also include some of here colleagues from the 1980s including Stuart Barnes the MD who first brought in PC’s.
Jayne, thank you and enjoy your Monday mornings!
Durham-Duplex has another successful exhibition at ProPack Asia in Bangkok 14-17 June 2017. This show is the major Asian showcase for the food processing and packaging industries which plays right into the capabilities of Durham-Duplex. International Sales Director Carl Foster said ” This is always a busy and interesting show for us. Fortunately our mix of product, local team and wide knowledge base means we avoid the tyre kickers and maximise the potential of selling into the region. Being on the UK stand is also a great bonus as GB companies have a reputation for quality.”
Durham-Duplex had a successful visit to the UBM ADM/Packex show in Toronto 16-18May 2017. As ever it was a chance to see old friends and meet new customers for Carl Foster, the International Sales Director who has taken to informing us that he has clocked 69,000 air miles so far in 2017. Mark Risden, our North American Sales Manager (pictured), enjoyed his first trip to Canada and meeting our Canadian customers with Carl. As Carl said “We had a successful show and had a lot of interest from a wide range of companies from converters to food processers. We look forward to 2019 already!”Next Page »
