The Master and Mistress Cutler with the Wardens and the Immediate Past Master and her team.
Durham-Duplex’s Managing Director was installed as the 384th Master Cutler of Hallamshire on 3rd October. This historic role dates back to 2024 and is the Voice of Manufacturing for Sheffield, Hallamshire and South Yorkshire.
Charles Turner said ” This is a great honour and as Durham-Duplex are modern Cutlers I am delighted that i will be the Master for the Company of Cutler’s 400th Anniversary in 2024. I am particularly keen to keep the profile of the excellent manufacturing companies in the region high across UK and globally and promote the importance of businesses engaging in skills training.”
Durham-Duplex exhibited at the Process and Packaging Machinery Association (PPMA) exhibition at the NEC 26-28 Sep 2023.

This year had the added bonus of being co-located with Interplas which doubled our reach across two of our industry sectors.”

Durham-Duplex (South East Asia) exhibitted their range of food processing and packaging knives at the Malaysia International Machinery Fair (MIMF) at the Malaysian International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur 13-15 July 2023.
Throughout the years, MIMF has evolved into Packaging & Food Processing Exhibition (M’SIA-PACK & FOODPRO), Plastic, Mould & Tools Exhibition (M’SIA-PLAS), Lighting, LED & SIGN Exhibition (M’SIA-LIGHTING, LED & SIGN) ,Bakery Exhibition (M’SIA-BAKERY) and become the leading industry trade fair in Malaysia.
K Kanwipha, the DD(SEA) Sales Manager said “MIMF has become a regular on our calendar and is the main show for our products in Malaysia. The spread of customers looking for quality packaging, food processing and plastics processing blades suits our capabilities and make this a good show to attend. Durham-Duplex answered Dame Julie Kenny’s, the Master Cutler, challenge to support her chosen charity The Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust. The Trust is committed to raising significant sums to support its ambitious community and educational programmes, where campaigns and fundraising are key to enable this. The money raised will be used towards a number of targeted programmes at Wentworth Woodhouse including educational projects, community engagement activities, well-being programmes and cultural experiences. This goal will be focused on groups who are often not presented with the same opportunities as others, including people with disabilities, low income households, the socially and economically disadvantaged and ethnic groups.
This “changing lives” initiative was supported by a team from Durham-Duplex staff who did a 23 mile extended Edale loop taking in Mam Tor, Win Hill, Lose Hill. the Edale skyline, Kinder Scout, the Edale Cross, Mount Famine and River Sett starting and finishing at Hope on 6th July 2023

Durham-Duplex exhibited at the Propack Asia Show in BITEC Bangkok 14-17th June 2023 as part of the UK Pavilion. This four day show is Asia’s Number One international trade event for Food, Drink & Pharmaceutical Processing & Packaging Technology.
This year Durham-Duplex showed its enhanced chicken processing products alongside its wide range of industrial knives for the sector including tray knives, toothed knives, food processing blades and film & foil slitting blades. K Kanwipha, the ASEAN sales Manager, said “Propack is the big packaging show in Thailand and drew in visitors from across the region making it a truly international event. The audience are very knowledgeable so are impressed by the Durham-Duplex range and swift deliveries on machine knives from the factory in Amata Rayong. However, as usual it is the range of FBL and local products plus the detailed knowledge of the sales team that draws people onto the stand. We had an exciting ad enjoyable Propack 2023 .”

Durham-Duplex were delighted to exhibit at the Safety and Health Expo which was one of 4 concurrent events at the Excel London. The feeling was that this was a great expo to reconnect with the health & safety community in the South in ” an environment for innovation and collaboration for health & safety professionals”.
The other events included FIREX International, Intelligent Building Europe, Facilities Show, Workplace Wellbeing Show and IFSEC International which allowed Durham-Duplex to connect with other key communities across fire safety, smart buildings, facilities management and security.
UK Sales Manager Alex Smith said “As always this was a very broad show and one where the professionals understand the need and application of safety knives so seek out the high end OLFA products for which we have the exclusive UK industrial distribution agreement. The cross over element worked particularly well for us as the Durham-Duplex range of hand knives are multi-faceted to work across industry and dovetail nicely with the OLFA safety aspects. This singularity of different offering for different applications worked well at this event.”

Interpack is back and Durham-Duplex are exhibiting!
After six years and a forced absence during the pandemic, the world’s biggest trade fair for the packaging industry and related process industries is up and running again. From May 4 to 10 2023, Düsseldorf becomes a business platform and future technology workshop for the packaging industry.
With 18 halls, targeted exhibition areas, new speciality shows and forums demonstrate the industry’s innovative prowess Durham-Duplex are one of around 2,700 exhibitors from around the world and will be showing the Company’s full range of Packaging and processing knives. Durham-Duplex are in the Components Hall and looking forward to the conversations with customers and potential customers over the 7 days.

Durham-Duplex enjoyed their trip to the NEC Birmingham 25-27 April 2023 for The Health & Safety Event, a show thay is dedicated to improving workplace safety standards.
Durham- Duplex exhibited the OLFA range of safety and hand knives for use in industrial applications. UK Sales Director Paul Bottomley was there to answer any questions about cutting safely and said “The NEC is always a great show for us where the mix of other shows on at the same time brings a knowledgeable and interested footfall through the Hall. The OLFA products are highly respected in the market and our detailed knowledge of the range enable companies to find the knife to match their needs for safe cutting.”
