Durham Duplex Family Takes on the Master Cutler’s Challenge to Support Weston Park Cancer Charity 2026

July 24, 2026

The Durham Duplex family recently came together for an unforgettable day of teamwork, determination and fundraising as colleagues took on the Master Cutler’s Challenge in support of Weston Park Cancer Charity.

The challenge saw members of our team lace up their walking boots and set out to complete one of two demanding routes through the beautiful South Yorkshire countryside. It was a day that tested both physical endurance and team spirit, but one that perfectly reflected the values that make Durham Duplex such a close-knit organisation.

The first group of 13 walkers began their journey bright and early at 6:30am, taking on the full 22-mile route. Setting off before most people had even started their day, the team knew they had a long and challenging walk ahead. The route included plenty of hills, changing terrain and, as many of the walkers would later agree, more than a few “literal ups and downs.”

Twelve miles into the challenge, the remainder of the Durham Duplex team joined the group to complete the final 10 miles together. What began as two separate teams quickly became one united group, walking side by side towards the finish line.

While the challenge certainly pushed everyone outside their comfort zone, it also showcased the incredible support and encouragement shared throughout the day. Every mile was completed together, with teammates motivating one another, sharing laughs along the route and making sure nobody was left behind.

The sense of camaraderie was evident from start to finish. Whether it was offering words of encouragement on the steeper climbs, checking in on fellow walkers or simply keeping spirits high with plenty of conversation and humour, everyone played their part in ensuring the day was a success.

After crossing the finish line, the team celebrated the achievement with a well-earned drink together. It was the perfect way to round off a memorable day and reflect on what had been accomplished—not just in terms of miles walked, but in the difference the event will make for an incredible local charity.

Most importantly, the challenge was about raising vital funds for Weston Park Cancer Charity, an organisation that provides life-changing support for people living with cancer and funds pioneering research, treatment and patient care across the region.

We are incredibly proud to share that, thanks to the generosity of our colleagues, friends, families, customers and supporters, the Durham Duplex family has raised more than £3,400 for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

Every donation will help the charity continue its vital work, supporting patients and their loved ones when they need it most. Reaching this fundraising milestone is a fantastic achievement, and we are sincerely grateful to everyone who has contributed so far.

Events like the Master Cutler’s Challenge are about far more than completing a physical challenge. They bring people together, strengthen relationships, create lasting memories and remind us of the positive impact we can have when we work towards a shared goal.

At Durham Duplex, we are proud to support causes that make a real difference within our local community. The commitment shown by every member of the team throughout this challenge demonstrates not only determination and resilience, but also the generosity and compassion that define our people.

To everyone who walked, donated, volunteered, offered encouragement or supported us throughout the challenge, thank you. Your generosity has helped us raise an incredible amount for a truly worthy cause, and we couldn’t have achieved it without you.

Although we’ve already surpassed £3,400, our fundraising journey isn’t over yet. If you would like to support the Durham Duplex family and help us raise even more for Weston Park Cancer Charity, you can find a link to our fundraising page below.
